The Insurance Portfolio Score
The Hing & Co Insurance Portfolio Score is a free educational review for Singapore residents. In about five minutes, it compares your declared insurance coverage against public benchmarks from the MAS Basic Financial Planning Guide, MoneySense, LIA Singapore and CPF schemes, then visualises your protection across life, critical illness, hospitalisation, personal accident, disability income and retirement.
Answer a short structured questionnaire or upload your policy documents. The tool extracts key fields, compares them against public benchmarks and shows your lifetime protection with clear charts and short explanations.
Before your overview appears, you will be asked for your name, email and mobile number. Your details are not passed to insurers or third-party agents.
Use the free overview to understand your portfolio, verify policy details directly with your insurer, and review the linked official sources before making any decision. If you would like to talk it through, you can book an optional free 15-minute chat with Kenneth Hing. Your details are not passed to insurers or third-party agents.

An insurance portfolio score is an educational indicator of how complete your current insurance coverage appears across major protection areas in Singapore: life, critical illness, early critical illness, hospitalisation, personal accident, disability income, long-term care, retirement income and premium affordability. It compares the coverage you declare against public financial planning benchmarks such as the MAS Basic Financial Planning Guide, MoneySense, LIA Singapore studies and CPF schemes. It is a directional self-assessment, not an official rating.
As a general public benchmark, MoneySense and the MAS Basic Financial Planning Guide reference around nine times annual income for death and total permanent disability cover, and around four times annual income for critical illness. These are rules of thumb only. Your actual need depends on dependants, debt, existing savings, CPF balances and lifestyle, so treat the figure as a starting point for your own review.
A coverage gap is the difference between your estimated protection need and the coverage you currently hold. If your need is higher than your current sum assured, the shortfall is a potential gap worth reviewing. If your current coverage is well above the benchmark, it may indicate possible excess. A coverage gap is an estimate based on the information you provide and general benchmarks, not a prediction of any future claim.
Yes. You can upload screenshots, photos or PDF pages of your policy documents. The tool reads the key details and shows them back to you for verification before generating a policy summary. You stay in control of what is included, and you can edit any field that was read incorrectly.
If important details are missing, the summary clearly flags it and asks you to upload additional pages or verify with your insurer before relying on the result. Missing information can affect the accuracy of both the policy summary and the portfolio score, so the tool is transparent about what it could not read.
No. This is an independent educational tool. It is not an official score from MAS, LIA, any insurer or any government agency, and it is not endorsed, approved or certified by them. It only references their publicly available guidance to help you understand your portfolio.
